Wings Of The Phoenix

The world appears to be coming unravelled
The only constant thing is change
Feel like I'm losing my direction
The more I fight the greater the pain

I look inside try to get a grip on
Many feelings not understood
Do you owe me do I owe you
Feels like a question of whether we should

New Millennium is riding on the wings of the Phoenix
Creative transformation is upon us
Let the feeling blast right through you
Invite the energy to thrive inside you
Time to do what we really want to do
On the wings of the Phoenix

Tried so hard to find the answers
Was I just spinning my wheels
Need some time so I don't go crazy
Bond what I've learned to how it feels

Dissolve the chains that hold me down
Obligation disappears
Act outside of expectation
Grind away that mountain of tears

New Millennium is riding on the wings of the Phoenix
Creative transformation is upon us
Let the feeling blast right through you
Invite the energy to thrive inside you
Time to do what we really want to do
On the wings of the Phoenix
On the wings of the Phoenix
(throat singing)

What Are You Waiting For

Surrounded by trees, plush moist so alive
Bee carries nectar, from the flower to the hive
Deer in the meadow, secure in this space
It's here for you to share, a natural embrace

What are you waiting for?

Spread your arms wide, let the wind blow in
Open up your heart, as you shed your ancient skin
Skyclad in the Sun, makes you feel free
Every simple joy becomes a revelry

What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?

Walking in the creek, hawk soaring over head
Cool flowing water can wake you from the dead
Love is a place, not something that we do
A vibrant oasis, where you can run away with you

What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?
What was I waiting for?

Imagination Maiden

I centered my mind on the edge of time
Nobody else's business but mine
Don't you say, that you did this to me
There's no way, I would let that be

Center your body on the edge of mine
Join me I'll keep you in line
So you won't stray,
Or go away, you be in my trap to stay

Imagination maiden, you're the only one for my heart
When you say you have your own life
You really make me want to start
Loving you, that much more, that's what I'm here for

Don't turn that mirror, in another direction
It's not really you, it's just a reflection
Of how you fee, so fess up to
What is real, it's got a hold on you.

Imagination maiden, you're the only one for my heart
When you say you have your own life
You really make me want to start
Loving you, that much more, that's what I'm here for

There's no strings attached, you see what I'm holdin'
Don't laugh in my face, I outta give you a scolding
For what you said, that you would rather be,
Dead, than go along with me

Imagination maiden, you're the only one for my heart
When you say you have your own life
You really make me want to start
Loving you, that much more, that's what I'm here for

Culprit

There's a burglar in the night and it wants to take our lives
What it doesn't know our lives aren't up for grabs.
Stealth and cold as night it crawls into our rooms
Chips away the structures of our dreams.

I've heard it all before told in stories and in books
How just one man can rape or free a lang
But there's no scapegoats to be found in this dry and withered ground
The problem lies in trying to be free

There's a culprit on the streets, must we forfeit in our prime
The things we truly only let them take
Cement mountains majesty and our children walk the beat
To gaseous lights and people that are fake

Can't we escape the freeze of our own mentalities
Fear hides in everything we do
It clouds illusive minds and tarnishes our hearts
By creating the visions we can't see

There's a culprit on the streets, must we forfeit in our prime
The things we truly only let them take
Cement mountains majesty and our children walk the beat
To gaseous lights and people that are fake

A Soldier's Song

At seventeen I took up arms against the terrors in the world
I served my country and I practiced war and learned the horror it unfurls
Shared with other soldiers, no war story the same
But always in their eyes, a spark of hope remains

I have my own mind, I know my heart, I'm not afraid to try
Stop a war before it starts

I've grown to be a man of peace, yet I understand the need
Warriors must carry on, but we don't need to bleed
To keep our country strong, protect ourselves,
Provide our children, peace and common wealth

I have my own mind, I know my heart, I'm not afraid to try
Stop a war before it starts

At seventeen I took up arms against the terrors in the world
I served my country and I'm proud of that, I pray our leaders will learn
To have their own minds, know their hearts, be brave enough to try
Stop a war before it starts

Passing For Middle-class

Three piece suit dinner for two hardly any money left
To get to work every day
That don't worry me none, you gotta do the best you can
You might not be here tomorrow

Passing for middle-class is all I know
How to buy it now and pay for it later
Living the good live ain't nothing to wait for
Oh land of milk and honey don't ever let me be poor

I've been payin' out the ass for a car that I might own some day
Just another hobby of mine
I got two rooms in my condo with no furniture
Going to have to keep the doors shut

Passing for middle-class is all I know
How to buy it now and pay for it later
Living the good live ain't nothing to wait for
Oh land of milk and honey don't ever let me be poor

The haberdashery is on fire tonight,
had a hat on lay-a-way
Got a home entertainment center next to my king size bed
Going to stay home and get blown away

Passing for middle-class is all I know
How to buy it now and pay for it later
Living the good live ain't nothing to wait for
Oh land of milk and honey don't ever let me be poor

Dog Gone World

Marvelous sage in a no-man's land,
doesn't have the sense to start his own band
Eatin', drinkin', smokin' all that he can,
says' it's all just part of the plan

It's a dog-gone world and no-one's to blame
Something's different, something's the same
He would have left you if not for the pain
Just watch out for that old cocaine

She could smell a flea in heat on a dog's ass
Tell whether you're courting a lad or a lass
See the future and read about the past
Some say, she's really fast
It's a dog-gone world and no-one's to blame
Something's different, something's the same
She would have left you but it started to rain
She's so mature to be insane

Who is this couple I'm singing about
Are they tall, short, skinny or stout
If you can catch them please don't let 'em out
The talk to loud, don't forget to shout

It's a dog-gone world and no-one's to blame
Something's different, something's the same
They would have left each but nothing to gain
Between the two of them, only one brain

Jack-hammer Blues

I've got those jack-hammer blues, slammin' that rock it's true (x2)
When your rock ain't been smoothed out, nobody's lovin' you

I work hard early in the morning, sometimes till late at night (x2)
Ain't nobody better than you, and you bet I know that's right

At noon I get a phone call, that's when you say you're bringing it to me (x2)
You got something for me, and I'm sure it's good to eat

I've got those jack-hammer blues, slammin' that rock it's true (x2)
But I don't mind slammin' that rock, I'm so in love with you

BACK TO LIST

MC Shuffle (m. charles) (live)

Driving down the highway, looking for a place to stay
'Car's about to over-heat, and I need me something to eat
I play the blues in an acoustic (rock 'n' roll) band
But the people they don't understand
Got my guitar in the back seat
I don't care if I over-heat, singing

The KC shuffle (MC shuffle), with a guitar in my hand
The KC shuffle, with a guitar in my hand

Found myself a country town, where's there's not so many people around
Sold my car don't need much money, it's kinda slow here to get around
All you see is memories, staring at you up that main street
All I do is play my guitar
I don't care if I don't get to far, singing

The KC shuffle (MC shuffle), with a guitar in my hand
The KC shuffle, with a guitar in my hand

I Know That's Right (live)

Well, you say I'm no good not worth a cent
I work to hard now my back is bent
I lay on the couch you give me hell
Then you ask what I have to say for myself

I know that's right, yeah I know that's right
I just want your lovin' 'don't want to fight, so I say
I know that's right

Climb that ladder as fast as you can
Please start here with the garbage man
Ya say you're tired of foolin' around
Don't I think it's time that we get down, down

I know that's right, yeah I know that's right
I just want your lovin' 'don't want to fight, so I say
I know that's right

Life gets hard what can you do
When it seems like everybody's pickin' on you
Well I might lay around that house all day
But I'll bet nobody else can love you this way, you say

I know that's right, yeah I know that's right
You just want my lovin' 'don't want to fight, so I say
I know that's right

So you told me to get up off of my back
And you let me know just where's it at
Say your ready to make a that climb
You don't think I want to be left behind

I know that's right, yeah I know that's right
I just want your lovin' 'don't want to fight, so I say
I know that's right

Long Way To Go (m. charles) (live)

Searching, is something we all seem to do
To go on, live the better life
Giving, is something we all should do
But we seem to take more than we can choose

It's such a long way to go
And I'm going to make it on my own
It's such a long way to go
And I'm going to make it on my own

Loving is something we all go through
Some with pain but all the same a thing called love
Dieing, it's such a mystery too
But all the same we all have to take it as part of that game

It's such a long way to go
And I'm going to make it on my own
It's such a long way to go
And I'm going to make it on my own

Tattooed Lady

Iron hard muscles and smooth armor skin,
Her eyes are tough above a chrome=plated chin.
She speaks of power with a steel pierced tongue,
Don't mess with this beauty she'll bang your gong.

chorus
She's a tattooed Lady in the circus of the World,
Super strong woman, never been a little girl.

She doesn't want to know a man but one day she might,
If she ever finds one she can't beat in a fight.
She doesn't want to know a man but maybe she will,
If she ever finds one she doesn't want to kill!

Chorus

If I was ever to have a go with this chick,
She would have to think I'm a super trick.
So I ate a dozen roses and swung from the trees,
She slugged me in the gut and dropped me to my knees.

Chorus

She didn't want to know a man I didn't have a chance,
I would die try'n' to be her first romance.
She didn't want to know a man and put up a fight,
But she's mine now you see with a T.K.O. last night.

Chorus - x2

I'm High

Sun shinin' through the window, I'm leanin' on the bed
Visions of you woman are welcome in my head, and I
Wanna hold you close, 'wanna share your hopes an' I'll be patient.
I know that's just the way it is.

chorus
I'm high, cuz you want to be with me and
I know you can go it on your own
I'm high, even when you're not with me, it's a
Love like I've never known

The smile that you're wearin', the feelings that you show
Actin' ain't pretendin', just try to let go, and I'll
Walk by your side, don't let your heart hide, we'll go flyin'
Let me say that's just the way it is

Chorus

My freedom and my loved ones, my music and my song
You complete the picture, and help to make me strong
I want the same thing for you girl, open to a peaceful world
I love you
Mmmmmmmm that's the way it is.

Chorus x2

I'm high, I'm high, I'm HIGH

CRICKET SONG

She's a spinner of the fire, spirit of the land
She's a spinner of the fire, spirit of the land
Loves her freedom, shares it when she can

Vast like a valley, wind whippin' willow
Vast like a valley, wind whippin' willow
Soft as a flower, you might never know

chorus
Drummers throbbing heartbeats, come along
Fire keeper singing her cricket song.
Drummers throbbing heartbeats, come along
Fire keeper singing her cricket song.

Shy but courageous, she feels it when it's right
Shy but courageous, she feels it when it's right
Dancin' in the full moon, shakin' 'round the fire-light

She loves her family, nothin' put above
She loves her family, nothin' put above
Strength of a mountain, gentle mother love

Chorus

Beautiful woman, no-one ever owns
Beautiful woman, no-one ever owns
I love her so much, thrills me to the bones

Chorus x 2

Freaky Place

I found a way to make the birds sing at night
They felt so safe with me, safe with me
I made an old dog start chasing her tail
The postman walked right by, walked right by

chorus
And the world is an upside down try to loose a frown
on your face, freaky place
Around the sun we spin a while try to find a smile
love embrace

bridge
It's all for me, not just for me,
My family, Human race, freaky place

I led a horse to water and made him think
he was so thirsty, so thirst
Today my father told me "I love you"
He never did that, never before

Chorus

I formed a baseball team at the arcade
We're called the conquerors, conquerors
I talked a teenager out of suicide
Now she's my best friend, my best friend

Chorus x2

Thick Socks

I met a girl so nice to see, her figure looked just right to me
But she got uptight cuz I couldn't stop starin' and I
Don't know why but she started yellin'

chorus
My legs aren't fat I just got thick socks
They don't interfere with the way I walk
My legs aren't fat I just got
Thick socks, clear up to here

I said,
Let me tell you somethin' before I book
The problem isn't with the way you look
You could use a little more meat on your bones
She said, "To late to flatter me, just take me home, cuz

chorus
My legs aren't fat I just got thick socks
They don't interfere with the way I walk
My legs aren't fat I just got
Thick socks, clear up to here

I said,
Come on baby let's get somethin' straight
Jump up here so I can guess your weight
In the skinny competition you've won the race so
Let's take off those socks before they rub my face, wow

chorus
Your legs aren't fat you just got thick socks
They don't interfere with the way you walk
Your legs aren't fat you just got
Thick socks, clear up to here

Now and then we think back on those younger days
When we fell in love tryin' to guess her weight
She gets a quiet smile of the fond memory of
How she got uptight and yelled at me

chorus
My legs aren't fat I just got thick socks
They don't interfere with the way I walk
My legs aren't fat I just got
Thick socks, clear up to here
Clear up to here
Clear up to here
Clear up to here

Don't Get Drunk

There's a party tonight and I've checked all my gear,
I got mint's in my pocket and some artificial tears
If the fun police find out what we plan to do
There's a designated driver makin' sure we're cool,

An' there'll be food and beer, fun and cheer, laughter all around
Music and dancin' and groovin' to the sound
Tomorrow we can sleep in it ain't no crime
Take my momma's advice and we'll have a great time

Don't get drunk, don't get dumb, don't get dead
It's the most important rhyme momma ever said,
She said leave your car at home, use your head instead
Don't get drunk, don't get dumb, don't get dead

All we need to make is a plan to get home
I save ten bucks and call a taxi on the phone,
'Cause drivin' and drinkin' ain't what I call fun
It's like Russian roulet with a fully loaded gun

Don't get drunk, don't get dumb, don't get dead
It's the most important rhyme momma ever said,
She said leave your car at home, use your head instead
Don't get drunk, don't get dumb, don't get dead

I guess you all are wonderin' how this story ends,
Well we drank with awareness and survived with all our friends
But our party was special so be careful everytime
There are other people drivin' who don't know momma's rhyme

Don't get drunk, don't get dumb, don't get dead
It's the most important rhyme momma ever said,
She said leave your car at home, use your head instead
Don't get drunk, don't get dumb, don't get dead

NEW MAN

If I ask the right question will the answer come?
If I walk a good path can I still have fun?
Hardest battle that was ever won.
I must remember as
Long as I'm searching I'll always be free
Before I die I want to celebrate me!

I'm only as rich as I can afford
To give away is it's own reward
Might come back and make me feel adored
I must remember as
Long as I'm searching I'll always be free
Before I die I want to celebrate me!

The Earth holds the secrets
The spirit guides the soul
Mind is the tool New Man is the goal
The Earth holds the secrets
The spirit guides the soul
Mind is the tool New Man is the goal

I can't do it when I'm dead, those
Little things that help my head
Like making love until we break the bed
I must remember as
Long as I'm searching I'll always be free
Before I die I want to celebrate me!

Once I dreamt that I was awake
Pushed past the limit I couldn't find the brake
Was it a blessing or just a mistake?

I must remember as
Long as I'm searching I'll always be free
Before I die I want to celebrate me!
The Earth holds the secrets
The spirit guides the soul
Mind is the tool New Man is the goal
The Earth holds the secrets
The spirit guides the soul
Mind is the tool New Man is the goal
Long as I'm searching I'll always be free
Before I die I want to celebrate me!
The Earth holds the secrets
The spirit guides the soul
Mind is the tool New Man is the goal

SAVE OUR MOMMA

She's big and round, green and blue
Innocent love for me and you
I'm wondering what we're gonna do
Clean up our act, pull her through

Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma

From the mountains high to the valley low
We gotta help everything to grow
She used to do it on her own
Now we've gone and messed up our
Lovely home

Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma

I'm asking you to give her love
I always want to see those stars above
Oh momma give us another chance
Sing a song and do our dance

Clear rivers, clean air
It's not to late so don't despair
Jus' treat her right, she'll be fair
Besides, there's no where else to go but here

Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma
Save Earth, save our, momma

GOOD BAD EXAMPLE

Brother on the other side of the world
We used to call them the reds
Can we just ignore Tiananmen Square
How many kids there are dead

To be rich is glorious
It's a democratic sign
If you give a little you better give a lot
Happiness ain't no fine line

Tell the man we're
Tired of a good bad example
Let's show them what freedom means
Tell the man we're
Tired of a good bad example
Let's show them what peace means

It's the youth of the world
That give us the courage
To speed the changes in our lives
Is the man afraid to listen to new ideas
That could put an end to all our strife

Tell the man we're
Tired of a good bad example
Let's show them what freedom means
Tell the man we're
Tired of a good bad example
Let's show them what peace means

Four dead in Ohio
Let's not forget what happened there
Students makin' changes in the government
'Don't know the meaning of fear

Tell the man we're
Tired of a good bad example
Let's show them what freedom means
Tell the man we're
Tired of a good bad example
Let's show them what peace means

WHITE FIRE

They came to this country,
Didn't understand
Why natives here couldn't own the land
Thirty million strong lovers of the Earth
The great creator gave them birth and

Then came fire, still there was fire
Red Earth, Gold Air, Black Water,
White Fire

A few understood the native people here
Embraced their way of life without fear
Lived off the land took only what they need
Struggled for harmony but never felt defeat

Then came fire, still there was fire
Red Earth, Gold Air, Black Water,
White Fire

An' it's sad to carve faces in sacred stone
Fence off the land, slaughter buffalo
If not discovered until now
Would things be better, brothers some how?

Then came fire, still there is fire
Red Earth, Gold Air, Black Water,
White Fire

Millions of people may have native blood
Shows that we're human
Shows that we love
Never too late to understand
Find relation in this land

Bless the fire, transform the fire
Red Earth, Gold Air, Black Water,
White Fire

In the 1960's two hundred fifty thousand
Native Americans were all that remain.
Even so, there are some who teach the sacred
ways to all who pray to understand,
the spirit of the land.

Red Earth, Gold Air, Black Water,
White Fire
Red Earth, Gold Air, Black Water,
White Fire

SPREAD OUT

Gliding over virgin meadow
Climbing to the cotton sky
Playing in the windy currents
Happy just to be a live
Early morning bells go off
I just want to stay in bed
Working for the corporation
Wondering where my life's been lead

There's a place where I feel famous
In the forest by the streams
People often get to crowded
Make room to find my dreams
I would like to work at home
Check the answering machine
Co-workers on-line video tele conf'rencing

Spread out, move out of the city
Spread out, farther than the burbs
Spread out, we can talk through the wires
Spread out, we can make our lives our own
Spread out

Voluntarily wake at dawn
Silent world before my eyes
Draw the water from the well
Light fills the morning skies
Leave the pressure in the city
Room enough for everyone
Fit my work into my life
Not the other way around

Spread out, move out of the city
Spread out, farther than the burbs
Spread out, we can talk through the wires
Spread out, we can make our lives our own
Spread out

Society grows so big
People tend to loose control
Need our time to fill our lives
Before we get old
All the great technology
If we learn to use it right
Wonder comes back to life
No focus on fight or flight

Spread out, move out of the city
Spread out, farther than the burbs
Spread out, we can talk through the wires
Spread out, we can make our lives our own
Spread out

REINCARNATION

Have you ever felt like,
You've been somewhere?
Something bout that old house,
Standing over there
You get a funny feeling,
A thought flashes by
Was it in a novel or
Does the memory lie?

Have you ever felt like,
You know someone you don't?
Sure you never met them,
Just got off the boat
You keep silent as you're
Watching for a clue
They think you're staring,
What do they mean to you?

It is possible if we look around
Plants and trees are dying,
Falling to the ground
Up pops a seedling,
Add another sprout
Living things recycle
Why would we be left out?

All that I know, is that we're given
Once at a time the life that were livin'
So many lessons I want to learn
I like thinking there's
More time to burn

Reincarnation,
Do we live more than once?
If there's a choice I'll get on the bus
If we want to can we
Take another stance?
Can we stay in heaven,
Or can we get another chance?

Once I left my body, and I did fly
Back to the Earth new light in my eye
I don't have proof, but there's no doubt
I guess it's for some to know,
And others to find out

I really love it here,
When my body's old
I hope to comeback fresh,
Rejoin the fold.
'Til I finally learn it all,
An' shake this body off
Soaring upward light carry me aloft
Reincarnation,
Do we live more than once?
If there's a choice I'll get on the bus
If we want to can we
Take another stance?
Can we stay in heaven,
Or can we get another chance?

ESCALATE

You see a little pain in my eyes,
Your smile becomes a passionate lie
Was I denied as a child
Ignored and left wild
No amount of love would be too mild

When you're in my arms
Love starts to escalate
When you're in my arms
Love starts to escalate

The way you walk swingin' side to side
Hair like a vail you've always been shy
Your laughter breaks the gloom
When you walk into the room
No one would dare leave you in ruin

When you're in my arms
Love starts to escalate
When you're in my arms
Love starts to escalate

Why can't we grow up knowing
what we're looking for?
Can't someone tell us
what our lives have in store?

Fill up every moment don't waste time
You learned how to stop on a dime
When it doesn't feel right
And there's no one in sight
You carry on and head for the light

When you're in my arms
Love starts to escalate
When you're in my arms
Love starts to escalate

OH SHOW ME

There's a journey to take, take you away
Bring you back to yourself, oh show
You want to try, try hard to fly
When you stop you're there, oh show

Oh show me the light and I'll
Stand on my own
Oh show me I'm right when I feel alone
Oh show me the light and I'll
Stand on my own
Oh show me I'm right when I feel alone

Let it all be real, real hard to leave
Go out into the world, oh show
One day it comes, comes so they say
It's all for fun right now, oh show

Oh show me the light and I'll
Stand on my own
Oh show me I'm right when I feel alone
Oh show me the light and I'll
Stand on my own
Oh show me I'm right when I feel alone

Oh show my love, love for the world
Celebrate I'm alive, oh show
Oh show my love, love to the world
Celebrate we're alive, oh show

Oh show me the light and I'll
Stand on my own
Oh show me I'm right when I feel alone
Oh show me the light and I'll
Stand on my own
Oh show me I'm right when I feel alone

RUN, JUMP, FLY

Call all your friends, go to the mountains.
Take your lover off to the sea.
All you need is right there inside you.
Life's what we make it out to be.

There is a passion we must satisfy,
To, open our hearts so we can learn to fly.

Everybody has a different kinda vision,
Some look ahead, others look behind.
Be in the moment so we don't miss out,
It's the perfect ultimate design.

There is a passion we must satisfy,
To, open our hearts so we can learn to fly.

Gravitate, levitate, celebrate!
Run, jump, fly!
Gravitate, levitate, celebrate!
Run, jump, fly!

Gold in those hills diamonds in the desert,
A treasure chest is at your feet.
If the prize seems to be illusive,
Try the magic word just say please

There is a passion we must satisfy,
To, open our hearts so we can learn to fly.

Gravitate, levitate, celebrate!
Run, jump, fly!
Gravitate, levitate, celebrate!
Run, jump, fly!

What makes you happy go out and do it.
Imagination that is the key.
You know our dreams start the ball rolling,
We got what it takes to be free!

There is a passion we must satisfy,
To, open our hearts so we can learn to fly.

Gravitate, levitate, celebrate!
Run, jump, fly!
Gravitate, levitate, celebrate!
Run, jump, fly!

DON'T GET DRUNK
     - 2 versions, plus bonus song "Save Our Momma"
